Dear Mom and Dad,
I am having a great time here. It is June 19, 1775 right now. Now we are going to flashback to June 16, 1775. We have figured out that the British are planning to occupy the hills around Boston. So, under Colonel William Prescott we moved to the top of the hill to get ready for the British attack. We were ready. We spent the night there, not on Bunker Hill but on Breed's Hill. Although the the battle is called the Battle of Bunker Hill most of the battle was fought on Breed's Hill.
Now it is the morning of June 17, 1775. The British attack their first time. Over 2,200 soldiers start march up. This is when our leader says, "Don't shoot till you see the whites of their eyes." He says this because we are low on ammunition. They come up the first time and we turn them back. Then they come another time and now we are getting low on ammo. They retreated. Finally they come up a third time and we run out of ammo and they take us over. If we would have had more ammo, then we would have won that battle. This battle showed that we could stick with the British.
